In commemoration of African Landing Day, join us on August 2, 2025 as we read “The Granddaughter Necklace” written by Sharon Dennis Wyeth and illustrated by Bagram Ibotoulline.
With a historical sweep that reaches back to Ireland and to Africa, and an intimacy that resides in every family’s treasured stories, Wyeth tells the tale of one family’s journey from the old world to the new, from the past to the present, and from mother to daughter. Stick around after to create your own necklace!
We’re offering 2 sessions for this event–10 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 2 pm. This event is free and open to the public. No advance registration is required. This program is presented by the Hampton Public Library and the Fort Monroe Authority.
