Fort Monroe has received several national designations to celebrate and protect this area’s important heritage. 
The Fort Monroe Ghost Walk returns October 17 – 19, 2025!!! Take a walk through the Mystery and History of Fort Monroe as we decend into the haunted history of Fort Mornoe.
This year we are featuring the “Craven Clinic” (also known as the Fort Monroe Hosptial), the Post Office and Customs House, and diving into the life and times of one of our most famous residents, Edgar Allen Poe.

Tours will be rain or shine. This is an outdoor, walking tour just over one half a mile long and lasting approximately one hour. Be advised that many areas and buildings at Fort Monroe are not handicapped accessible. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and this tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12.
