Fort Monroe is a wonderful place to visit. If you are a history buff, nature lover or simply looking for a good meal, a day at Fort Monroe is unlike any other.
Holidays by the Bay at Fort Monroe
Step back in time to experience century-old traditions of celebrating the holidays on an Army fort.
In the Army, a soldier’s unit became their family and everything was done to make their station feel like home. The holidays provided a welcome break from rigorous training for a bit of joyous fun with one’s found family.
Join us for an open house on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 4:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the Commanding General’s Residence and Garden. The home is decorated in the fashion of a traditional unit celebration based on images of past holidays at Fort Monroe. The garden’s spectacular festive illuminations will provide a chance for you to create your own memories with family and friends alike.
The event is free and does not require reservations. Guests are required to wear a face mask indoors.
Free parking is available near the Commanding General’s Residence on Ingalls Road.
