Its 400-plus years of rich history have made Fort Monroe a unique and diverse place to explore. Surrounded by water, the location has long been chosen by military forces as a strategic point from which to protect our country.

The Fort Monroe Authority collects and cares for objects and archival materials representing the history of the inhabitants of the land currently occupied by the Authority.
FORT MONROE REMAINS OPEN during the federal shutdown. The National Park Service tours and programs are suspended at this time.
