Plan Your Visit
Fort Monroe is a wonderful place to visit. If you are a history buff, nature lover or simply looking for a good meal, a day at Fort Monroe is unlike any other.
Let’s Go! Registration is now open for the Fort Monroe 5K or 1.3 mile Freedom Run. Participants will receive a virtual custom race bib, a Fort Monroe Freedom Run Medal, a water bottle, a t-shirt, and a Fort Monroe athletic bag! We are encouraging you to participate safely and responsibly. As a virtual run, it is not a requirement to participate at Fort Monroe, or during a certain time of day. Please find a location and a time that is comfortable and convenient for you! Also please be safe and mindful no matter where you are of road conditions, other people and your surroundings. Again, registration is open until July 8 and you may run from July 1 through July 28.
As a part of our new July programing and connected to our new virtual forum series, “Evolution of Freedom,” the Fort Monroe Authority wants to encourage you to think about the question “How do you express your freedom through music?” Freedom is many things to many people. The National Center for Freedom at Fort Monroe is striving to gain an understanding of these many personal, different and broad meanings. As you run we hope you will think about how music may bring you a sense of freedom and motivation. When you have completed your run, and are virtually logging your time, we will give you the opportunity to share with us your thoughts on freedom and the songs which help you to most express your own freedom.
