A Gracious Addition
Built in the Classic Revival style at the beginning of the 20th century, this elegant brick home with its spectacular formal garden was a gracious addition to Fort Monroe, a strategic military installation from 1834 until its decommissioning in 2011. Occupied through the years by the commanding general of the fort and his family, this historic property has been meticulously maintained.

Yes. The Fort Monroe Authority does not provide any catering services at this time. Please refer to the catering section of the policies for details and guidelines for food service.
The venue can accommodate up to 150 people in certain circumstances. Please contact the FMA special events department with a description of your event for detailed information about capacities and accommodations.
Yes. The client is responsible for obtaining the proper ABC license and providing a copy of that license to the FMA before the event. Please refer to the policies for details and further information in regard to serving alcohol at your event.
Parking at Fort Monroe is open daily to the general public unless posted as reserved for residents or other designations. The closest parking for the Commanding General’s Residence is located behind the Fort Monroe Library adjacent to the Commanding General’s Garden. It can be accessed by turning left from Ingalls Road onto Rogers Lane. Other parking is located a short walk from the Residence on Ingalls Road.
The FMA provides 5’ round tables, 6’ rectangular tables, 5’ half round tables, adjustable height cocktail size tables, black PVC folding chairs, and black or white linens to fit. Please refer to the equipment section of the policies for further details about equipment.
For most events, the venue is available from 7:00am until 11:00pm. The rate is daily for most events. For events needing less time, and meeting the proper criteria, there are hourly rates available. Please refer to the Terms of Use for pricing and rate details.
Special Restriction: Due to the nature of the historic home, and in an attempt to preserve the historic floors, no spiked heels may be worn inside the venue.
