Saint Mary Star of the Sea, the ninth oldest parish in the Diocese of Richmond and the oldest Catholic parish on the Peninsula, holds a unique distinction: It is the only diocesan church in the nation located on a military installation, and its upkeep is funded solely by parishioner contributions.
