Brian R. Owens, the sculptor and visual artist designing the / African Landing Memorial at Fort Monroe, will be participating in a listening tour seeking public input on the project.

Owens and officials from the Fort Monroe Authority, the National Park Service, Fort Monroe Foundation, and the 400 Years of African American History Commission, will travel from the Washington, D.C. metro area through Hampton Roads, February 24-28.

There will be four public meetings during the tour. Those meetings will be held at Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, The Black History Museum and Cultural Center in Richmond, the First Baptist Church in Williamsburg and the Fort Monroe Visitor’s Center.
