Fort Monroe had the most advance defense systems from the beginning of the Third System in the 1800s, to the Endicott Period of the early 1900s. Join us for a talk and tour with Terry McGovern, author of American Coastal Defenses 1885-1950, and former Chairman of the Coast Defense Study Group to learn about the design and use of the Endicott batteries and take a close-up tour of the works.
