DESCRIPTION:View the Parade of Sail and Celebrate Juneteenth at Fort Monroe on June 19 \nThe City of Hampton\, in partnership with American Music Collective 250 (AMC 250)\, invites residents and visitors to Navigating Freedom: Celebrate Juneteenth and Hampton VA250 Sail on Friday\, June 19\, at historic Fort Monroe. \nThe full-day event from 9 am – 6 pm will unite history\, culture and community through a dynamic celebration featuring the viewing of the Sail250® Virginia Parade of Sail\, live performances\, cultural programming and family-friendly activities. National recording artists Musiq Soulchild and Amerie will headline the afternoon entertainment. \nThe Parade of Sail is expected to pass Fort Monroe at approximately 10:13 a.m.\, offering one of the region’s most memorable vantage points as international tall ships and military vessels travel through Hampton Roads toward downtown Norfolk. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early\, allow extra time for traffic and parking\, and follow event signage throughout Fort Monroe. \nBarbara Hamm Lee\, Executive Producer and Host of WHRO Another View\, will emcee the parade and share details about the participating vessels\, Fort Monroe and Hampton revolutionary and Juneteenth history. The maritime procession will continue through noon and offers a once-in-a-generation viewing opportunity from one of the region’s most historic locations. \nFrom noon – 6 p.m.\, visitors will enjoy a vibrant Juneteenth celebration curated by AMC 250 featuring cultural displays\, exhibits\, local vendors\, food and community organizations. Live music and entertainment will highlight the rich traditions\, artistry and resilience celebrated during Juneteenth. \nThe Juneteenth celebration is designed as a full-day\, multi-stage cultural experience anchored by nationally recognized headliners and grounded in community participation. Performances include national artists Musiq Soulchild and Amerie\, along with regional and local favorites including The Art of Noise featuring Lonnie B and Mad Skillz\, Myra Smith and Phoenix Collective\, Peggy Britt\, Ashley Felder\, TeezySoDope and Zyaa. \n  \nEvent Schedule: \n● 9 am – 12 noon: Parade of Sail at the Fort Monroe seawall\, food vendors\, entertainment \n● 12 pm – 6 pm: Juneteenth celebration with live music\, cultural displays\, exhibits and vendors in Patton Street Park. \nEvent Guidelines \nEvent Parking and Transportation Information: \nAttendees are encouraged to arrive early and follow directional signage throughout Fort Monroe. \n● General parking will be available on the Fort Monroe Walker Airfield. On-site signage will direct drivers to the site. \n● Shuttle service will begin at 7:30 a.m.\, delivering attendees to the Fort Monroe seawall/Continental Park for Parade of Sail viewing. A second stop will allow convenient beach access. \n● Beginning at 11:30 a.m.\, shuttles will also transport attendees from the airfield to the Juneteenth celebration area at Patton Street Park. \n● Accessible parking will be available throughout the day at Outlook Beach. \nVisitors are encouraged to bring: \n● Lawn chairs \n● Personal umbrellas \n● Sunscreen \n● Refillable water bottles \nThe following Items are prohibited: \n● No outside alcohol \n● No glass containers \n● No illegal substances \n● No pets\, drones\, fireworks/sparklers\, weapons\, pop up tents \n● No bikes\, scooters or skateboards \n● No large coolers larger than 16 quarts – maybe subject to inspection \n● No professional cameras/video equipment without approved media credentials \n● No unauthorized vendors or solicitations \n● No pets (service animals permitted) \nMotorized mobility scooters and wheelchairs are permitted. \nFood vendors will be available starting at 9 a.m. and water-filling stations will be available in multiple locations. The Fort Monroe Visitor & Education Center will be open during the event\, and ample portable restrooms will be available for attendees. \nPatton Street Park \nThe Juneteenth Celebration from 12- 6 p.m. at Patton Street Park is a clear bag event. Guests are encouraged to bring only clear bags to expedite entry into the festival area. Small coolers no large than 16 quarts are permitted. \nThis event is rain or shine unless otherwise communicated by event organizers \nThe event is free and open to the public. \n
